“What a beautiful and unique place in the Podelta”
1 August 2012
We spent five wonderful summerdays in this unique and unspoiled place.
The old complex is beautifully restored and surrounded by big trees.
In the garden you find fig and pine trees and roses and it is a pleasure
to make a walk within the green. It is so brilliant to sit under the
shady arcades in the late afternoon while sipping a good wine and
listening to the birds. An early morning bath in the salty swimming
pool is a must in summertime. The rooms are equipped with aircon which
is helpful during hot summer days. The rooms are comfortably, and
you can let in fresh air during the night. The bed is comfortably
and big enough for two. Breakfast is good, dinner is very good. There
is always a primo piatto (mostly fresh pasta) a main course with side
dishes and a dessert. Castel Venezze has a good selection of white
and red wines for reasonable prices. In the cosy living room you can
find good travel books to plan your trips to the interesting spots
in the region. Try one day a short trip to the sea along the river
Adige. You travel along the canal overlooking the fields and the little
villages of the Podelta. Have a lunch at the seaside enjoying the
seabreaze. Don't forget to visit the botanical garden at Punta Caleri
and the museum in Adria. We will come back again - for sure.

“A truly beautiful place!!!”
16 July 2012 - From Hamilton (Canada)
My husband & I recently stayed at the Castel Venezze for 4 days
in July. I had found this place on the internet and knew nothing about
it besides how amazing it looked in the photos. We both realized that
it probably wouldn't look as great as it does in the pics, but if
it looked half as good we'd be very happy. We arrived and our breath
was taken away. The pictures and description do NOT due this place
justice!!! The atmosphere is tranquil, the people who work their are
so very friendly and accomodating. The food is to die for, and the
grounds are amazing! Our room was beautiful and very large. We were
so very sad to have to leave this wonderful place, even though we
still had Venice and Serbia to visit!! I asked for information about
their apartments BEFORE I left, because we were already planning our
next trip their from Canada!! We can not wait to go back!!!!!

"Like going back in time..."
1 May 2012
We just returned from a three day weekend at the Tenuta. The grounds
were beautiful and the ambience is one of relaxing and just letting
go of every day worries and concerns. It really is a place that maintains
it's old world feel both inside and out and the atmosphere really
promotes relaxation.
The weather was warm so we were able to enjoy the pool and we also
took several walks around the area usually in the evening before dinner
as we were staying half board which included dinner.it was nice to
be back at the Tenuta by mid afternoon and relaxing before dinner
as everyday we chose a different activity for our mornings and then
lunch out.
It is very centrally located to many things and we visited Ferrara
one day, canoes on the Po river the next, saw Rovigo one morning and
visited a morning market on Sunday in Agno,a small town nearby. The
day we departed we stopped in Abano Terme.
I would recommend the Tenuta for anyone that loves the countryside
and the peace it brings, being in nature, experiencing authentic hospitality
and warmth and to those who enjoy seeing things off the beaten path
and at a slower, non hectic pace.( We were looking for that kind of
break).
I originally thought I should stay one night in Ferrara and only two
nights at the Tenuta ,but I am very happy in the end that I had the
Tenuta as our " home" the entire time while exploring the
region.
We already miss " viola", the miniature poodle that resides
there that stole our hearts :)
She reminded us of a little lamb. Mrs. M. Ruiz-Fea, California U.S.A.

"Five-star Agriturismo"
10 April 2012
We took a risk on this property in 2006 and fell in love - we have
stayed almost every Easter since then. Normally we stay at international
resorts - this year for example we drove straight from Tenuta Castel
Venezze to a Mariott resort in France - but we feel this property
compares well even with the top resorts - and especially when you
consider it is 'only' an agriturismo. The modern apartments are fantastic,
they have a traditional feel but are very clean, with modern appliances
and comfortable furnishings. The environment is truly beautiful, situated
among fields filled with pheasants and hares, a wonder for the children
to explore on the bikes supplied, with plenty of space for family
games too. The public areas are also filled with character and beauty
but the greatest highlight is the food! Each year we go to La Calandre
at Padova (one of the top restaurants in Italy) for one night - but
every other night enjoy almost as much the fantastic home cooked meals
made by Maria and her team. Every year we make a day trip to somewhere
new - this year it was the new Enzo Ferrari museum in Modena - together
with old favorites Venice, Verona, Lake Garda, Padova etc. Even close
by there are always new treasures to find, this year especially we
found new restaurants in the area including the amazing Meridiana
and the rustic Trattoria al Ponte. And at the end of every day we
always had such a warm welcome from Maria and her team! So we could
not recommend this property highly enough and do so regularly to all
our friends. By the way - we have also visited in summer and it is
lovely especially with the pool - but we advise to consider staying
during spring or autumn when you can really see the seasons change
and there are sometimes slightly fewer guests - in these days it almost
feels like Tenuta Castel Venezze is your own Italian country estate!

“Quiet and peaceful countryside visit--excellent”
31 ottobre 2011
Our 8 day visit was quiet and peaceful in this lovely country spot.
The old agricultural buildings were beautifully restored into a lovely
villa and apartments. We stayed in the main building and enjoyed the
atmosphere of this special place. Owner Maria's cooking school gave
us time in the kitchen with other day visitors from Venice and a delicious
meal. Riccardo, who helps keep things running smoothly was available
each day for advice and help on our daily excursion plans. On the
nights that the villa was not serving dinner, he helped us with dinner
reservations and reccomendations on a local cafe. The entire staff
was very friendly and helpful. It was a lovely spot and although it
was colder weather during our stay, I can imagine that summer with
drinks outside under the long veranda and lounging by the beautiful
pool would be a real treat. P.S.F. from Fullerton, California, U.S.A.
We stayed here, having first stayed in Verona. We stopped off at
Rovigo for supplies before moving into Pino apartment - nicely located
next to the swimming pool. Lovely, spacious two bed house with stone
floors downstairs, wooden floors upstairs. Plainly but beautifully
furnished. Well equipped kitchen for self catering with the ability
to eat at the main house if you wanted - we went once and had a spaghetti
with meat sauce to start, radicchio with cheese, chicken with applesauce
as main course, icecream and mixed fruit for dessert at 22 euro each.
It was fine, but we felt our cooking was perhaps better! There is
a very relaxing quality about this place and the surroundings/buildings
are beautiful and we would recommend it, particularly to large groups.
Rather a long day if you travel to Venice just for the day. Would
recommend exploring the Po Delta, particularly if you are birdwatchers
- we hired bikes for the day and cycled around ending up at the beach
for some seafood/sunbathing. Would recommend Montagnana, Montilice.
Rovigo, Este and Choggia not really worth investigating. Venice of
course was amazing!!!
A wonderful place away from all the hustle and bustle on the Veneto
plain. The upside is that the apartments were very well-appointed,
the pool was lovely, the grounds fantastic. The downside is that the
meals were a little too repetitive and the location was about an hour
from anywhere you would want to go.
We were a family of 4 and stayed in the apartments which we highly
recommend. The hospitality was welcoming and the apartments were well
appointed. JR.D. from Cambridge, UK
“Great place”
28 agosto 2011
Our goal was to find a nice country resort in the Venice area to allow
for a one day visit to the city. We stayed two days in one of the
rooms in the main building.
Good room. Airco was a great plus in this very hot period.
Very friendly staff.
Option to have dinner is very good too.
In a 50 min drive you can reach the Fusina ferry to Venice. Ella & Ronald

“Idyllic location - our 3rd visit”
29 luglio 2011
Hotel in name but not in nature. A unique location in many ways. We
prefer to stay in the apartments (one side of the complex are modern,
the other side traditional) and in this case, you self-cater and are
left alone to enjoy the facilities (you can still book hotel meals).
As a 'hotel guest', the fantastic homemade dinners are a highlight.
Comfort Rooms are just that, perfectly adequate for purpose: the Superior
rooms simply offer you more space.
The pool is excellent and as a lot of people go exploring the region
by day, you can often find yourself enjoying it virtually to yourselves.
Some might find the relaxed environment a little frustrating because
there are times when the reception will be unmanned (the owner lives
on-site so she can often help out instead)but this is a small price
to pay for this unique experience.
In summary, a beautiful location, quiet and relaxing, which is centrally
positioned for several tourist areas.
Paula and Philip, Manchester, UK
Authentic location. Superb housing. Marvelous starting point to explore
the Veneto : Ferrara, Padova, Vicenza, Venezia, the laguna, the Palladio
villa's...
We had both dinner in our private little garden/terrace (with BBQ)
and booked in table in Maria's restaurant with superb own cooking
at reasonable prices.
A warm thank you to Riccardo, Maria and especially Susanna. Mr. Meersman from Belgium
“Beauty and peace. Perfect place to relax, yet close
to cities”
3 luglio 2011
My favorite place on our two-week trip. Among smaller towns and lovely
farmland, yet close to major transportation routes. It was a beautiful
setting, well-maintained and appointed facilities, yet with a rustic
flavor. The rates were very reasonable--ours included breakfast and
dinner, and everyone was friendly, gracious, and accommodating. I
would not hesitate to recommend it. Julie from Richland, Washington, USA
“Totally delightful.”
17 giugno 2011
My girlfriend and I rented one of the apartments (Leccio) because
we enjoy doing our own cooking. It was very well furnished and the
kitchen was well equipped (except for the odd omission of a spatula!)
Every part of the Venezze is very old, but has been updated tastefully.
There's a fireplace (which we used twice), a grill outside and excellent
air-conditioning. The pool is lovely and just the thing after a day
of travel.
We chose to to focus out day trips on Padua and some of the nearby
medieval towns (Este, Monselice), but it would be an easy drive to
Bologna and Verona, too.
Maria, the owner, and very much the "face" of the Venezze,
is an energy force. She is on top of every detail to a level only
found in 5-star hotel. She's really nice, too! We did not eat at the
hotel as we did our own cooking.
We've done house rentals before and found the Venezze to be top quality. Richard J. from New York City, USA
“Outstanding cooking lessons at Maria's Cookery course”
28 aprile 2011
Recently 8 friends and I took a one day cooking lesson in the Venice
(Italy) area.
The session was simply outstanding. Maria (Senora Maria Guistitiano)
along with her 3 assistants, working in a professional kitchen, had
developed a very extensive menu. We all participated, moving from
workstation to workstation on a rotation basis, learning the subtleties
as we kneaded pasta, made “bread” other contorni (vegetables),
and 2 desserts.
Her approach was highly effective as we worked with real cooks, who
were experienced in traditional Italian cooking. We were able to ask
questions and get forthright answers (no pretence).
Following the 4 hour lesson we all sat down to a marvellous lunch,
set in an outstanding location – an old villa, full of charm.
Senora Maria was amazing. Patrician in form but very down to earth
in delivery.
In addition she had a sommelier present a series of wines throughout
our lunch. The sommelier was very knowledgeable about wines. (No wines
were offered or promoted for subsequent purchase).
The session was the best we had (of 5 during 4 weeks stay in Italy).
It was very informative – a wonderful learning experience -
as it was fun, all made better by the location and the Senora’s
charm and grace. Mr. Beraskow from Canada

We had a wonderful cooking holiday at the Tenuta. Our hostess, Countess
Giustinani is charming and very helpful. The rooms are large, nicely
furnished and include modern ensuite bathrooms with excellent water
pressure and plenty of hot water. Our cooking lessons and trips to
wineries, vinyards, restaurants and the fishing town of Chioggia were
lots of fun. The Tenuta is in the country and we saw pheasants, hares,
and herons on our morning walks. It is quiet in the evenings and we
could see the stars clearly at night. Can't wait to go again
We did Maria's 6-day cooking class - a complete delight in every
respect. Hands-on cooking, wine tasting, vineyard visits, farm visits,
morning at a fish market. Warm, welcoming staff, comfortable accomodations,
a great experience in every respect
My husband and I and out two adult doughters came for a week after
a busy week in Venice. We loved the food and the activities. We did
cooking lessons, Italian lessons, and wine and cheese tasting. All
of this added much to our experience. The rooms were lovely and the
veranda and porch provide an ideal place to relax. Maria and her staff
make this place so enjoyable. We will return and bring more family
next time.
Message: Our group of 16 stayed here for a week. We enjoyed the quiet
laid back area where we could go for walks along the field roads and

The fresh cherries were a treat every morning. The apartments were
clean and very pleasant.
I would recommend this place to anyone who likes country living,
away from the traffic and noise of cities. It was convenient to travel
to other villages and do sightseeing.

Message: Maria
- our host - was extremely helpful in getting our internet booking
accomplished easily. After a long drive from the airport in Rome,
we arrived at the Castel, a wonderfully well restored agriturismo
set in a series of 12th-15th century buildings in a quiet rural setting.
We arrived late on a Saturday night and were welcomed with open arms
by Maria who re-arranged the evening dinner schedule to accomodate
the four of us. What a meal - 4 courses all cooked wonderfully and
superbly presented in a dining room with very friendly atmosphere.
We stayed in one of the apartment accomodations which are somewhat
rustic but SPOTLESSLY CLEAN and very comfortable beds! The accomodations
were very quiet (except for one morning when the gardener started
early) so we had very restful sleeps.
We stayed for 1 week and ate some of our meals in the dining room,
all of which were excellent and all freshly made by the superb kitchen
staff. Two of us took a 1/2 day lunch cooking class with the staff
- 3 lovely ladies who were quietly supervised by Maria - who allowed
us to do as much or as little as we wanted. We made fresh pasta, lasagna,
veal, frittatas, tiramasu, all with fresh ingredients, most of which
came from the agriturismo farm. A great time after which we ate our
preparations with other guests and a sommelier who took us on a local
winery tour after lunch.
Maria was most helpful in giving us ideas on local places to go,
advice on tours etc, and she was truly a great introduction for us
to Italian hospitalilty and we would highly recommend this agriturismo
to all who are looking for quiet relaxation, along with some of the
best food we sampled in Italy.

Message: My husband and I booked direct with the hotel for a long
weekend after seeing reviews on TripAdvisor
and looking at the website - we were travelling to Italy to watch
motor racing at the Adria circuit. The dates of our stay and timing
of our arrival changed several times, but the changes were accommodated
courteously and without fuss - a relief when I was feeling so disorganised!
The 2 words which summed up our stay were - simple and relaxing. Our
room on the ground floor and the evening meals we ate in the dining
room were simple and had everything we needed - dinner was delicious
and the atmosphere informal. There was a good and ample breakfast
buffet - the croissants in particular were gorgeous!
On 2 of our days we had time to sit by the pool - situated with sun
and shade available - the weather was beautiful and the trickle of
the water is the perfect background to a relaxing read.
From San Martino we then went to Venice and spent a couple of equally
beautiful but very different days there - it was a perfect holiday.

Message: Paul and I have just returned to New Zealand after having
a very relaxed and wonderful holiday at Tenuta Castel Venezze. Coming
over to Italy from New Zealand takes many hours of flying and we were
delighted at our wonderful accommodation when we arrived.
We arrived late in the evening and we were welcomed with a lovely
meal after many hours of travelling. The Contessa made us very welcome
and was always happy to help us with places to visit in the region.
The meals were wonderful and for the 7 nights we stayed there not
one meal was repeated. We also had the chance to appreciate Italian
cuisine at its best. The kitchen staff were always helpful and were
very pleasant even though communication with the language was difficult.
We would rate the castel as one of our top places we have stayed in

Just a quick note to let you know we arrived home
safely and to say a big thank you for a wonderful stay. We are missing
the relaxation already!
Hope to see you again sometime soon.
I stayed in your Tenuta from 6 August to 9 August 2005 with my disabled
son together with my friend Elizabeth Vroom and her disabled son.
Both boys are in wheelchairs, mine drives a big electric one.
I would like to thank you for making our stay so relaxing and easy.
The ramps up to the side entry enabled perfect access to this wonderful
house, and the small step into the office was easily negotiable.
We were in room number 2. The ramp down into the room made access
easily possible for an electric wheelchair, there was just enough
room to turn and drive around in it, and the bathroom with its wheel-in
shower was absolutely great for our needs. Our shower wheelchair fitted
through the door easily and was manouverable in the bathroom.
Access to room number 1 was a little more difficult as there was
a step down to the ramp, however for a manual wheelchair this was
not a problem. There is also a small step into the shower, but this
was no
problem for my friend and her son, who was able to sit on the toilet
to shower.
The dining room was spacious enough for two wheelchairs not to hinder
other guests or the waitress serving dinner.
Access to the terrace, the beautiful grounds and the pool was easy.
Conditions were perfect for us and we enjoyed our stay and the good
food immensely. So once again, thank you so much for making it possible!

Message: In April 2005 we rented an apartment in Tenuta Castel Venezze
for a week. The location was perfect for day trips, yet we could prepare
our own breakfast and dinner in a quiet paradise. This stay was the
highlight of our time in Italy. The apartments are furnished with
period pieces, in a converted outbuilding of a working farm (crops
of Maize and soybeans are grown). Guinea fowl, chickens and peacocks
roam the grounds; we saw our first European hares in the fields. At
night we could only hear the insects serenading us; we were awakened
in the morning by the rooster crowing. The kitchen area had everything
you might wish, including a washing machine, drying rack, and iron.
Outside the apartment was our own parking spot, and a lovely covered
patio with table and chairs for outdoor enjoyment. In the summer there
is a pool. All this tranquility, in an easy to reach spot, outside
a small town just 10 minutes from the highway that connects Verona
to Rovigo. There was a major modern shopping center just 10 minutes
drive away (near the highway), which had anything you might wish including
groceries, a bank and clothing stores. There are three apartments,
and twelve bed and breakfast rooms in the main building (some with
air conditioning--the apartments are not air conditioned at this time).
Our host spoke excellent English and was very helpful, though you
must trust, once you send your deposit, that all is well--there will
not be a re-confirmation notice. Credit cards are accepted. The rooms
are large, light, and airy. Heaters are in every room, and may be
individually controlled (extra charge for heat). The Auto Strada is
a five minutes drive to the north. One may easily reach Venice,
Padua, Vicenza,
Mantua, and Ravenna, as well as many smaller and very interesting
towns--Este and Monselice, for example. There are many travel publications

Message: "Vittorio, Thank you for sending the photo. It was very
much appreciated. I looked at your web site and saw that you used
the picture in it. That was a surprise! Please tell Maria that we
had a wonderful time staying at your villa. Everything was so nice.
David and Alessa also did a great job. We tell all our friends how
wonderful everything was.
I wanted you to know that we did not stay at the villa in Regello
as we had planned. It was too far up in the mountains and was a very
difficult drive. Also, there was no shade and the furniture was old
and not in good shape. I think that you knew that we would not be
happy there. We drove to San Donato in Poggio and were able to get
a very nice place.
Also, let Maria know that Diane bought gold earrings in Firenze. We
went to Vaggi's as Maria suggested and they were very nice. The girl
that helped us is from the United States. In fact, she was from Connecticut,
the state where we live!
Thanks again for allowing us to stay in your "home". We
had a wonderful time and hope that someday we'll return.
Message: Last May we stayed at your beautiful tenuta. At first we
occupied one of the apartments and later on we had a room in the hotel.
Through this email we want to thank you again for your kind hospitality
and especially for the fact that you had managed to make the apartment
as well as our room in the hotel accessible for my wheelchair. It
was a pleasure to experience that not only newly build modern accomodation,
but also a classical and charming building like your tenuta can be
made accessible for
someone with a handicap. We are really looking forward to return
to your tenuta some other time.

E-mail:dfob@msn.com Message: We loved Tenuta, and it was a fabulous spot for the
Wedding. Everything was perfect! We had 37 people total.
We set up cooking classes ahead
of time, which were fantastic. The morning class made lunch for everyone
and the afternoon class made dinner for everyone. The Chef was wonderful!
We were able to have the Ceremony outside on the long portico, which
was so beautiful. Two of the guests played music. A cello and a piano
(keyboard), which we rented. We had a wonderful 5 course dinner for
the Wedding, which was out of this world. We had hired a 22 person
group who played instruments, sang and danced with the guests. Everyone
had a ball.
The men even got to play golf. Everyone had a great time. We will
have fond memories for a lifetime.
Maria, was the greatest. She did a fantastic job with everything.
They evn photographed the wedding. We were the first wedding to be
held at the Villa, and they want to start promoting that they can
do weddings on their website. They really did a great job. All we
did was tell Maria what we wanted, and she took care of it all. Maria's
son Vittorio and his wife, Rafaella were also a great help.
Thank you for giving Tenuta such a good reference. It helped us make
our choice easier.
